Realtors® from 12 associations across Pennsylvania carried on the annual tradition this year of ringing the bell for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.
The Red Kettle Campaign began in 1891, and the Salvation Army now helps more than four million people during the holiday season by raising money for food, toys and clothing for those in need. Ring Day happens each December and is designated for Realtors® to help their communities by ringing the bell and collecting donations.
“On Friday, Dec. 1, members of the Lebanon County Association of Realtors® volunteered with the Salvation Army for the annual Ring Day at the Lebanon County Farmer’s Market,” said LCAR member Kim Jones who helped organize the event this year. “This annual event allows Realtors® to engage with our community through selfless service to help feed, clothe and provide shelter to others. No one can do everything, but we can all do something to help.”
“The Warren County Board of Realtors® came together and rang the bells for the Salvation Army on Friday, Dec. 4, at Tops Market in Warren,” Denise Whipp from WCBR added. “I feel that it is important that even though we are competitors, that the community sees that we can come together as a group during the season of giving. The Salvation Army plays such an important role in our small community to those in need. It’s a great organization for the board to support. I appreciate everyone who takes time out of their busy day to contribute to this event.”
In addition to ringing the bell, the Realtors® Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh’s Young Professionals Network collected children’s toys for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, which helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children nationwide each year.
“We had a very successful event on Thursday, Nov. 30, benefiting Angel Tree,” said Kathleen Mathison, RAMP’s YPN chair. “We collected a significant number of toys that Angel Tree picked up for the kids this year. It is such a great cause, and everyone was so excited to be able to contribute to such a great organization this holiday season. It was a great event!”
