A newly elected Realtor® will join the state House and three Realtors® were re-elected to serve in the General Assembly yesterday. These candidates and others on the Pennsylvania Real Estate Caucus were supported by Pennsylvania Realtors® Political Action Committee.
In a hard-fought race, Realtor® Todd Polinchock (R-Bucks) won his election for the open 144th House seat. Polinchock served as president of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® in 2016 and is a Keller Williams Realtor® in Doylestown.
“I can’t wait to get to Harrisburg and start working on behalf of the citizen of Bucks County and across the commonwealth,” Polinchock said. “I’m so humbled by the support I’ve received from my neighbors, friends and fellow Realtors®.”
Polinchock is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a retired U.S. Navy Commander. He was previously president of the Bucks County Association of Realtors®, chair of the Suburban Realtors® Alliance and the 2009 recipient of the Pennsylvania Realtor® Active in Politics Award.
Other Realtors® victorious in their races included incumbent Sen. Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny) who was unopposed in his race for a fifth term, and incumbent Reps. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin) and Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland) both saw off challengers in their elections.
Realtor® Jamie Santora (R-Delaware) was defeated in his race for a third term in the Pennsylvania House. Current state Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks) also lost her bid for the open 10th Senate seat in Bucks County.
Several other Pennsylvania Real Estate Caucus members were winners on Tuesday: incumbent Sens. Arthur Haywood (D-Philadelphia) and Pat Stefano (R-Fayette) and Reps. Ryan Bizzarro (D-Erie), Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe), Tina Davis (D-Bucks), Michael Driscoll (D-Philadelphia) and Jerry Knowles (R-Schuylkill).
The Alliance for a Better Pennsylvania, a political action committee that conducts independent expenditure campaigns affiliated with the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors®, also was involved in several state legislative races.
Pennsylvania Real Estate Caucus members Sen. Bob Mensch (R-Montgomery) and Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) won their races for re-election.
Incumbent Sen. Mario Scavello (R-Monroe) and Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Northampton) also were winners on Tuesday.
In the open 12th Senate seat in Montgomery County, Stewart Greenleaf Jr. (R) failed in his bid to succeed his retiring father Stewart Greenleaf Sr., while incumbent Sen. John Rafferty (R-Montgomery) lost his re-election effort.
In races for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, incumbents Alex Charlton (R-Delaware) and Becky Corbin (R-Chester) were defeated, and in the open 162nd seat in Delaware County, Republican Mary Hopper was unsuccessful.
