Across the Commonwealth, Realtors® were ringing the bell for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign on December 5, which has been tagged as Realtor® Ring Day. Realtors® throughout the country have joined forces to assist the Salvation Army in raising funds during the holiday season.
Each local Salvation Army office provides programs and services unique to the needs of their communities. Offices operate the Red Kettle campaign uniquely to their area and money raised stays in each community to support their local efforts.
“I’m pleased to see so many local associations participate in the Realtor® Ring Day. This is the first year that the Pennsylvania Association has joined the nationwide efforts, where there were more than 25 states participating,” said PAR President Kim Skumanick. “This is a special campaign that gives Realtors® the opportunity to be visible within their communities and to lend a hand to the Salvation Army. Realtors® gave much-needed volunteer time in more than 10 communities.”
The Beaver County Association of Realtors® had 16 agents volunteering at three different locations throughout the county, covering the kettles from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to Kelly Scott, the association’s Community Service Committee chair.
“It was a great experience,” Scott said. “Many of our members involved their children to help as well. One of my favorite moments was when two children took money from their own pockets to donate.”
Fayette Board of Realtors® President Jackie Fiano said, “Our board likes to participate in community activities; we enjoy giving back. The Salvation Army does a wonderful job for our local community and this is a terrific fundraiser for them.”
