PAR Honors Three Dedicated Realtors®

In honor of their dedication to the real estate industry, three Realtors® were presented awards at the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® Board of Directors meeting yesterday in Harrisburg.

Sherrie Miller received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Helen Miernicki received the Realtor® of the Year Award and Glenn Yoder received the Realtor® Active in Politics Award.

Sherrie Miller

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has significantly contributed to the Realtor® organization.

A Realtor® for 38 years, Miller is currently serving her second term as PAR District 5 vice president. At PAR, she has been involved on several committees and task forces, including the Standard Forms Committee. She also serves on the PAR Board of Directors.

In 2018, Miller served as president of her local association, the Greater Scranton Board of Realtors®. The board has also presented her with the Realtor® of the Year Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award, and she continues to be active on several local committees.

Miller is committed to serving her community. She organizes her office’s annual food drive and participates in Red Day, her company’s day of service. She also acts as a mentor and teaches monthly classes for new agents.

“I am just shocked and very thankful,” Miller said upon accepting the award in Harrisburg. “Thank you very much. This is quite an honor.”

Realtor® of the Year Award

Helen Miernicki

Miernicki was honored for her meritorious contributions to the real estate community. A Realtor® for 38 years, she previously served as a PAR district vice president, as well as on numerous committees and task forces. These include the Education Foundation Committee, Legislative Committee and Realtors® Political Action Committee trustees. She is also a graduate of the LeadershipPAR program.

In addition to being active at the state level, Miernicki served as president of the Schuylkill County Board of Realtors®, and has chaired committees including the Legislative, Community Service and Nominating. She’s a current member of the Tri-County Suburban Realtors®.

Miernicki served for six years as a member of the Frackville Borough Council and is the past Schuylkill County Land Bank administrator, working with a task force to review blighted properties. She also coordinated the creation of Lincoln Park in Frackville, helping to receive a National Association of Realtors® Placemaking Grant in 2016.

“Thank you to my Realtor® family,” Miernicki said. “I appreciate the opportunities I’ve been afforded while working with PAR. I wouldn’t be here today without those opportunities.”

Realtor® Active in Politics Award

Glenn Yoder

The Realtor® Active in Politics Award recognizes a Realtor® who has significantly advanced the legislative agenda of PAR through political involvement.

Yoder has been active at every level of the Realtor® organization. He has served on and chaired PAR’s Legislative Committee, Public Policy Coordinating Committee and Legislative Feedback Panel, as well as been a member of the Legislative Forum and PAR Board of Directors. He is the District 6 vice president.

In 2011, Yoder served as president of his local association, the Lancaster County Association of Realtors®. There, he also chaired the Government Affairs Committee and served on the Legislative Committee.

On the national level, he has been the Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Lloyd Smucker since 2017. He also attends NAR’s yearly Legislative Meetings and takes pride in discussing Realtor® issues and initiatives with legislators.

In his community, Yoder serves as supervisor for East Earl Township and was previously on the school board of the Eastern Lancaster County School District.

“Thank you very much. I’m speechless,” Yoder said. “Thanks to everybody on the legislative committee and my previous chair and vice chair. I’ve had great support.”
