Unique Homes: Turn-of-the-Century Textile Factory

Sometimes Realtors® help clients buy and sell unique homes, but Aimee Buehner, a member of the Central Susquehanna Valley Board of Realtors®, lives in one.

“My husband and I live in a turn-of-the-century textile factory in Sunbury,” Buehner shares. Although her husband purchased the home years ago without her Realtor® expertise, she’s been able to make various renovation decisions using her industry knowledge.

“It’s all exposed brick walls on the second floor, with lots of windows and light!” she says. “We manage to utilize all 4,700 square feet. The second floor feels more ‘home,’ and the first floor includes our main kitchen, music studio, bicycle shop, wood shop and garage for working on the motors of yard toys (think open space and concrete floors).”

“The stairway to the second floor is very narrow, so we put a garage door in instead of a window at the end to bring larger items up by scaffolding. It just looks so cool!”

In the last 10 years, Buehner has also learned that her home was once a chicken house for a local farmer.
