PAR Seeking Feedback on Proposed Licensing Law Changes

PAR is proposing changes to the Pennsylvania real estate licensing law, and we’d like your feedback on the potential changes.

These proposed changes would be a significant change to the current law, addressing a variety of topics including real estate teams, advertising and licensing, among others.

They are the result of a task force that has spent more than two years discussing these industry-related issues.

It’s been my honor to serve as the chair of this RELRA Task Force, whose members included brokers and agents with practice and geographic diversity. The PAR Legislative Committee established this task force to review the need for changes to the licensing law. I jokingly said that this task force would be a marathon, not a sprint. I think our task force would agree that it ended up being more of a triathlon.

Over the course of more than a dozen meetings, we carefully examined all parts of the statute, dedicating countless hours to discussing, debating and analyzing options for modernization or updates.

I will say there were many spirited and lengthy discussions, and sometimes it was decided not to make recommendations on certain issues, which you will find as you read through the proposed changes. Ultimately, our recommendations are divided into nine sections, each focusing on different topic areas. We proposed ideas and concepts, understanding that the Legislative Committee and ultimately PAR’s Board of Directors would need to review and make decisions about the specifics.

We recognize these changes will have a significant impact on the real estate industry, so the Legislative Committee is seeking member feedback before presenting final recommendations to PAR’s Board of Directors.

I would urge you to read the recommendations prior to taking the survey. As you take the survey, you have the option to provide feedback on all nine sections or choose specific topics.

Your input will help ensure the industry speaks with one strong, unified voice.
