About this Training

Gain the knowledge, strategies, and confidence needed to successfully run for local office. From assessing your path to victory and building a campaign team to fundraising, voter outreach and get out the vote efforts, this series provides practical guidance for every stage of a campaign.

These 60-minute virtual sessions are interactive, classroom-style, and encourage discussion and questions.

Running for Office: What It’s Really Like  Nov. 18, 2026  Hear directly from elected officials from both parties about the realities of running for office, serving in public office, and balancing campaign demands with family, work, and community responsibilities. Participants will gain candid insights into the challenges, surprises, and lessons learned that every prospective candidate should understand before launching a campaign.  Path to Victory: Is There a Winnable Lane for You?  Dec. 2, 2026  Before filing paperwork or spending money, candidates must determine whether they have a realistic path to victory. This session will teach participants how to evaluate potential races, analyze voter data and district dynamics, assess personal and financial commitments, and develop a practical strategy for winning.  Building a Personal Brand That Wins Votes  Dec. 16, 2026  Successful campaigns are built on more than name recognition. They require a clear and authentic identity that resonates with voters. Realtors® will learn how to craft a compelling message, establish trust within the community, and maintain a consistent brand across traditional and digital campaign platforms.  Ballot Access & Election Law: Don’t Get Knocked Off the Ballot  Jan. 13, 2027  Many campaigns fail before Election Day because of avoidable legal and procedural mistakes. This session will cover petition requirements, key election law considerations, compliance best practices, and the critical deadlines candidates must meet to secure and maintain ballot access.  Campaign Infrastructure: Building a Team That Actually Functions  Feb. 10, 2026  Winning campaigns require more than the candidate themselves. They require an organized team with clearly defined responsibilities. Participants will learn how to recruit volunteers, structure campaign operations, determine when outside vendors are needed, and build an organization that matches the scale of their race.  Fundraising Without Feeling Awkward (and Actually Raising Money)  Feb. 24, 2027  Fundraising is essential to campaign success, but it does not have to feel intimidating. This session will provide practical techniques for creating a fundraising plan, building donor networks, making effective asks, utilizing digital fundraising tools, and developing sustainable fundraising habits throughout the campaign.  Coalition Building: Turning Relationships into Votes  March 10, 2027  Campaigns are won by mobilizing supporters and building strong community networks. Participants will learn how to identify key constituencies, secure meaningful endorsements, engage stakeholders, and transform personal and professional relationships into active campaign support.  Field Strategy: Door Knocking, Data, and Voter Contact  March 24, 2027  Direct voter contact remains one of the most effective campaign tools available. This session will explore voter targeting, door-to-door outreach, absentee and mail voting strategies, voter data systems, and how modern technology can strengthen field operations and voter engagement efforts.  Digital Campaigning + GOTV: Turning Support into Votes  April 7, 2027  A strong digital presence is essential in modern campaigns, especially during the final weeks before Election Day. Participants will learn how to integrate social media, digital advertising, texting programs, and voter outreach efforts into a coordinated Get Out the Vote (GOTV) strategy that converts supporters into actual voters.
