Advisory Groups

Advisory Groups are membership-wide groups structured around areas of practice, member interests and/or member perspectives, designed to facilitate the sharing of opinions, ideas and resources relevant to that common interest.

Background

In June 2021, the PAR board of directors approved the creation of Advisory Groups as formal entities within PAR’s organizational structure. Advisory Groups are membership-wide groups structured around areas of practice, member interests and/or member perspectives, designed to facilitate the sharing of opinions, ideas and resources relevant to that common interest. Advisory Groups are authorized by the Leadership Team as necessary and may be reauthorized in subsequent years. Membership in advisory groups will be broadly available to any member who expresses a reasonable connection to the underlying purpose of each Advisory Group.

Implementation Status

To support Advisory Groups, changes are being made to aspects of PAR’s technical infrastructure. The goal is to make participating in Advisory Groups easy for all PA Realtors® while continuing to enhance the member experience.

To ensure only active PA Realtors® can participate, the technical team is building an online community connected to PARealtors.org. Members will be able to log into the website and join the Advisory Group discussions. Plans to enhance the login experience and user flow are in place to make the experience frictionless. By utilizing the member login, we can ensure only active Realtors® are able to participate.

In the Advisory Groups, members will be able to join group discussions, send private messages to fellow Realtors®, participate in webinars and more. The aim for the Advisory Group platform is to be similar to a social network, but exclusively for Pennsylvania Realtors®.

While the technical work is being completed, staff is developing additional policies and expectations for Advisory Groups. As outlined in the organizational structure manual, each Advisory Group will be assigned a member of the Executive Committee as its Executive Committee Liaison. The liaison will monitor and assist in the facilitation of Advisory Group discussions and will be responsible for sharing various information between PAR and the Advisory Group.

A staff liaison will be assigned to work with the Executive Committee Liaison for each Advisory Group. Additions and edits to the PAR Policy Manual will be recommended to ensure proper online etiquette and member safety is followed in the Advisory Group platform.

Next Steps

Funding for these technical steps was included in the 2023 Budget. As such, work is scheduled to be completed this year. The goal is to begin beta testing at the end of March 2023 with a few members and staff.

After a successful beta test and pending any development roadblocks, our goal is to have Advisory Group functionality live on PARealtors.org by the end of June 2023.
