Continuing Education
2024-26 Real Estate License Renewal Cycle
To renew their licenses, licensees must complete 14 hours of continuing education, including the required topics outlined in the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission special notice. Out of the 14 required continuing education credits, licensees must complete two hours in fair housing and three hours in agency relationships.
All coursework must be completed between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2026.
All Licensees
All licensees (who are not renewing for the first time) are required to complete 14 hours of continuing education, including two hours in fair housing and three hours in agency relationships.
First-time License Renewal
Real estate licensees renewing for the first time must complete a specific set of continuing education modules through an approved education provider. These include two seven-hour courses: the General Module and then, depending on their practice, the Residential Module or the Commercial Module.
Licensees Who Are Licensed On or After Dec. 1, 2025
Real estate licensees who are licensed less than six months prior to the renewal deadline are exempt from the continuing education requirements for the first renewal cycle. However, licensees must still renew their licenses.
Pre-licensing
You must complete the Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice courses to become a real estate salesperson. Learn more about how to become a Realtor®.
More Information
Code of Ethics Training
Realtors® are required to complete a minimum of 2.5 hours of approved Code of Ethics training every three years. Free online Code of Ethics training is available through the National Association of Realtors®. You can also take courses locally.
Some local Pennsylvania associations have additional ethics education requirements. Check with your local association for more information.
Current CoE deadline: Dec. 31, 2027
Fair Housing Training
Starting in 2025, Realtors® must complete two hours of fair housing training every three years. The NAR Board of Directors approved the new requirement at its May 11 meeting. The three-year cycle coincides with the existing Code of Ethics training requirement.
Real Estate Appraisers
Appraisers must complete 28 hours of continuing professional education by June 30 of every odd-numbered year.
Realtors® Triple Play Convention
PAR jointly sponsors the Realtors® Triple Play Convention where a variety of continuing education courses are offered. The convention will be held Dec. 4-7, 2023, at the Atlantic City Convention Center, Atlantic City, New Jersey.
