Women’s Council of Realtors® Advances Women in Real Estate

The Women’s Council of Realtors® is a network of successful Realtors® that helps advance women as business leaders in the industry and in the communities they serve.

In 1938, when women were prohibited from joining local Realtor® associations, 37 women from nine different states banded together to form a “women’s division.” This organization later became the Women’s Council, which is now comprised of 13,000 real estate professionals across more than 250 local and state networks in nearly 40 states.

“The Women’s Council of Realtors® is a vibrant community of women leaders in the real estate industry,” the organization says. “We focus on advancing women through education and development opportunities, networking and unrivaled culture and events.”

In 2024, the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors® introduced its own local chapter: the Women’s Council of Realtors® Greater Philadelphia. This is currently the only chapter in Pennsylvania.

“The Women’s Council of Realtors® Philadelphia chapter is home to the dynamic women shaping the future of real estate in our city,” says Kathy Krebs, president of the local chapter. “As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we’re committed to honoring the trailblazers who came before us and recommitting ourselves to their vision.”

“This year, we are focusing our efforts on empowering our members through expanded networking opportunities, transformative professional development and bold advocacy initiatives. We hope to lead and inspire the next generation of women in the Philadelphia real estate industry.”
