How to use ratings and reviews for your real estate business

By Kelly Leighton | Feb. 4, 2016 | 2 min. read

“Realtors® make mistakes by ignoring their online profiles on the major portals, and not making sure they are up to date and accurate. Consumers are searching online, we know that. What will someone see when they Google your name? What will they see on the major portals? What reviews – if any – are online about you?” asked Pennsylvania Realtor® Erica Ramus.

Ramus will be presenting “Ratings, Reviews & Realtors, Oh My!” at NAR’s Tech Edge in Harrisburg on Friday, Feb. 12. Tech Edge is a one-day, high-energy conference aiming to teach agents about current web-based and mobile technologies, and how they can benefit their business and clients. Ramus said she plans to discuss how to use online ratings and reviews in agents’ marketing to promote business.

Using PAR’s Ratings of the Ratings, Ramus will show how to choose amongst the rating and review options out there. “There are so many options it can be confusing, and some are more valuable than others,” she said.

Ramus also plans to discuss what to do if you get negative reviews. “Soliciting online reviews is a two-edged sword, and you’re not going to get five stars across the board. How do you handle that?” she asked.

“Tech Edge is always a fun day,” said Ramus. “It’s a fast-moving schedule of short presentations by individual speakers, interspersed with panel discussions. We’re going to talk about building your online presence, data security, RPR, and what to spend your money on. Some of the area’s best and brightest will be there. If you attend and just get one great idea out of the day, I consider that a success. With the variety of sessions and speakers, we’re hoping you walk out of there energized and full of ideas to make 2016 your best one yet.“
