Heather Griesser-LaPierre, a member of Tri-County Suburban Realtors®, led an initiative last month to pack 238,000 meals for hurricane victims alongside fellow Realtors® and other volunteers.
A National Association of Realtors® 2022 Good Neighbor Award recipient, Griesser-LaPierre is dedicated to feeding people worldwide and within her local community. She is the executive director of Kids Against Hunger United, which has provided more than 11 million meals around the globe. The organization partners with the nonprofit Convoy of Hope to send meals where they’re most needed.
In addition to recently providing meals to hurricane victims in Florida and North Carolina, Griesser-LaPierre leads volunteer efforts year-round, working with Realtors®, companies, schools and other volunteer groups to raise money for meals, pack them and send them to people in need.
Kids Against Hunger United has partnered with a local school to provide meals on a weekly basis, started a local community food pantry and sent food internationally, including to Ukraine. They also raise money for and pack meals each Thanksgiving.
Griesser-LaPierre shared that working with Kids Against Hunger United has been a rewarding blend of her career as a Realtor® and her passion for helping others. Not only has she been able to lead others in volunteer efforts, but she often works with her fellow Realtors® to lend a helping hand. For example, agents from Keller Williams volunteered on their Red Day this year to help pack over 10,000 meals to send locally.
“This career has provided so many opportunities to give back and help others,” Griesser-LaPierre said. “When we all work together, we can feed more people. Together, we’re better.”
