What’s more romantic than affordability? Data shows that young couples are most likely to thrive in mid-sized cities, with Pittsburgh ranking no. 3 on the list from StorageCafe. 

The key pillars analyzed for each city included: 

• Community and relationship environment 
• Financial stability and affordability 
• Space and housing comfort 
• Work-life balance 
• Lifestyle and date-night amenities 
• Safety and environmental quality 

The analysis revealed that cohabitating couples comprise 4% of Pittsburgh’s community, and the city’s personal space per capita is 440 square feet. The median income of households ages 20-44 is $85,300. 

“Everyday romance meets long-term stability in Pittsburgh, a city that makes an especially strong case for young couples,” StorageCafe says. “With one of the highest florist densities in the country, date-night bouquets are never far, and the city also ranks near the top for fun spots and jewelry stores, so it’s easy to celebrate everything from casual nights out to big milestones. Residents are among the least mortgage-burdened, spending about 22% of their income on home loans.”
