Pittsburgh Named 6th Most Affordable City to Buy a Home

Out of 300 cities analyzed nationwide, Pittsburgh was named no. 6 on the list of cities that are most affordable to buy a home, according to WalletHub

Cities were analyzed across 10 key metrics, such as housing affordability, maintenance affordability, average cost of homeowner’s insurance, cost of living and more.

Out of 100 possible points, Pittsburgh scored 70.46. Notably, it ranked no. 2 in the large cities category, which included cities with more than 300,000, falling just behind Detroit (74.71).

“Pittsburgh continues to offer something that is becoming increasingly rare in today’s housing market: a high quality of life at an affordable price point,” shares Dale Swanton, president of the Realtors® Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh.

“Few cities can boast about having world-class health care and education, vibrant communities and strong economic opportunity, all while maintaining a housing market that is still within reach for the majority of people. That’s the reality in Pittsburgh, and it’s very exciting to see our city be recognized nationally for it.”
