Pittsburgh and Philly Top Cities for Staycations

Traveling for summer vacations can be fun, but sometimes a staycation is all you need to take a break. WalletHub recently named Pittsburgh and Philadelphia on its list of Best Places for a Staycation.

At no. 16, Pittsburgh scored a total of 56.37 points. The city stood out for its food and entertainment offerings – the category in which it ranked no. 9 – perhaps for its iconic Primanti Brothers sandwiches and pierogies, the Carnegie Museum of Art, The Frick Pittsburgh, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and the Fort Pitt Museum.

At no. 21, Philly scored a total of 54.07 points for staycation potential. In particular, staycationers looking for opportunities to be active will enjoy a stay in Philly. The city ranked no. 11 in the recreation category – perhaps for its walkability and parks, such as Fairmount Park and Wissahickon Valley Park. A trip to the Reading Terminal Market, as well as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Franklin Institute and its many historic sites like the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall top famous places to visit.

For Pennsylvanians looking for good food, entertainment and recreation, Pittsburgh and Philly prove that you don’t have to travel too far for a nice “getaway.”
