Pittsburgh Realtor® Howard “Hoddy” Hanna was named one of the National Association of Realtors® top five Good Neighbor Award winners and also placed in top three of online voters.
Hanna will be honored this weekend at NAR’s Realtors® Conference and Expo in Chicago.
“I was extremely surprised. It has been really exciting. The award is wonderful, it focuses on the fact that Realtors® really do more than just sell real estate,” said Hanna. “I was amazed at the other nominees, not only this year, but all years, the kind of things they do for their communities is remarkable.”
As a winner, the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund will receive a $10,000 grant, along with $1,250 for placing third in the online voting. Hanna said the extra money will go into the general fund, helping to support the cause. “We try to keep costs as low as possible. As the company has grown, the foundation has grown accordingly into new markets. In 2003-2004, we were supporting three hospitals, now we support 11. Maybe next year we will go up to 13,” said Hanna.
Hanna stressed the importance of giving back to the community as a Realtor®.
“We have success in life, as Realtors®, our success is all based on our neighbors. The stronger the community, the better it is for our business,” he said.
He also credited the Howard Hanna Real Estate Service team for their contributions to the cause.
“The Realtors® of Howard Hanna should be receiving this award. It’s the Howard Hanna team that does all the efforts, they raise the money on a daily basis. It’s a team effort. This is so exciting to me, I spend so much time on it,” he said.
“Winning this award is part of my every day mission in life,” added Hanna.
