Last year, the most common home project was bathroom remodeling, according to a survey by the National Association of Home Builders. The survey asked remodelers how common 22 remodeling projects were for their company in 2025, rated on a scale of 1-5, where 1 = not common at all, and 5 = very common.
With an average score of 4.1 out of 5, bathroom remodeling ranked highest on the list of most common projects. Seventy-three percent of companies rated bathroom remodeling a 4 or 5.
Remodeling projects also took the second and third places, with kitchen remodeling scoring an average of 3.9 and whole house remodeling scoring 3.5.
After these three remodeling projects, the next most common ones were:
- Other room additions (3.0)
- Windows/door replacement (2.9)
- Enclosed/added porch (2.7)
- Repairing property damage (2.7)
- Decks (2.7)
The three least common specific home projects included exercise additions (1.5), finished attics (1.8) and historic preservation (1.8).
