Americans Love These Top Super Bowl Snacks

For many households nationwide, the Super Bowl is more than just a football game – it’s a chance to gather with family and friends, root for favorite teams and eat delicious game-day food.

Emphasis on the food.

Specifically, a Sonoran hot dog if you’re in Arizona, knoephla soup if you’re cheering from North Dakota or crawfish etouffee for viewers in Louisiana. These are just a few unique fan favorites across the country, according to a search trend analysis by Coffeeness

However, many more states are in agreement. Here are America’s top five favorite Super Bowl foods:

1. Buffalo Chicken Dip

In 29 states, including Pennsylvania, buffalo chicken dip was the most-searched Super Bowl food. The creamy, cheese-based dip ruled in much of the Northeast, South and Midwest.

2. Baked Potatoes

This was the main choice for those in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Montana. A versatile comfort food, baked potatoes can be customized with countless toppings.

3. Fried Green Tomatoes

These reigned supreme in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi. They’re a traditional regional cuisine that’s crispy and tangy.

4. Funeral Potatoes

Fans in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming searched these the most. Despite its somber name, this cheesy potato casserole is the star of many Super Bowl celebrations.

5. Poke Bowls

This was the popular pick for Hawaii and Florida. Perhaps a bit surprising, this dish commonly includes rice, raw fish, veggies, sauces and garnishes, offering a healthier option.

But wait, what about dessert?

Americans were in a bit more agreement on their favorite sweet treats during game time. Here are the top five:

1. Strawberry Shortcake

Fourteen states in the South and West searched for strawberry shortcake the most, highlighting this dessert’s light, fresh appeal.

2. Peanut Butter Blossoms

These iconic peanut butter and chocolate cookies were the fan favorite in 13 states, especially in the Northeast and Midwest, and including Pennsylvania. That’s not a surprise given that Pennsylvania is the home of Hershey’s chocolate! Peanut butter blossoms are ideal for making in large batches and sharing.

3. Banana Bread

This was the choice for Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Another fruity/sweet combination, this can serve as both Super Bowl Sunday dessert and Monday morning breakfast.

4. Tiramisu

Tiramisu, an Italian dessert made of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream, was the leading favorite in Washington, D.C., Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Virginia.

5. Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Another berry sweet dessert, these were the pick for people in Arkansas, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. Their popularity may be influenced by the Superbowl’s proximity to Valentine’s Day.
