72% of Americans Worried About Home Emergencies

Of over 1,000 Americans surveyed, 72% said they were worried about home emergencies, per BPG Inspections

The most feared emergency was home fires, as 64% of respondents reported being worried about them. However, only 19% reported having an escape plan. Still, the majority (65%) did report that they test and replace their smoke alarms regularly.

Flooding and mold were also fears, but significantly lower at 8% each.

But after analyzing Google search data, BPG Inspections found that flooding is actually the top concern for Pennsylvanians – perhaps rightfully so, considering flooding is the most common and expensive natural disaster in the U.S

Fears aside, search results indicated that the five most common home emergencies overall were:

  1. Power outage
  2. HVAC
  3. Fire
  4. Storm
  5. Water heater
