6 Interior Design Trends for 2025

This year saw many interior design trends, from emerging maximalism to nostalgic retro vibes to sustainable spaces. With 2025 close on the horizon, it might be time for out with the old and in with these six new predicted trends from MarthaStewart.com

1. Big Personalities

Neutral interior design has been popular for years, but it’s possible that 2025 will see more personality, whether it’s through brighter colors, more unique décor or other personal touches. Interior design experts are predicting more people – especially younger people – will seek to tell their own stories through their design choices.

    2. Art Beyond the Walls

Art isn’t just for walls! While gallery walls have taken off in recent years, it’s predicted that 2025 will see more artistic designs, like sculptural light fixtures and furniture pieces.

      3. Reconsidered Dining Rooms

Designers predict that dining rooms will have their moment in the coming year. With a focus on gathering and entertaining, they expect multiple tables in larger homes, allowing for separate activities and socializing. However, in general, they predict that the dining room will see more attention and care when it comes to interior design.

        4. Color Drenching

Color drenching, a trend that consists of painting a whole room the same color from top to bottom, is a trend that’s expected to persist. The trend first emerged in 2023, but designers predict it will continue to replace neutral color palettes in 2025, with a focus on layering color, pattern and texture.

          5. Cozy Rooms

Cozier, warmer spaces may take over soon, especially as many people continue to work from home. This could include an uptick in cozy reading nooks and plump sofas and lounge chairs.

            6. Earth Tones

As we continue to move away from the all-white/neutral trend, earth tones are likely to emerge more in 2025, especially for those who don’t want to commit to brighter, bolder colors in their homes. Earthy, natural palettes that include colors like sage and terracotta will offer pops of color while keeping rooms relaxed and grounded.
