5 Big Ways to Use Small Commercial Spaces

“In a time when flexibility is king and entrepreneurship is booming, small pockets of underused space are in demand like never before – for coworking, pop-ups, private meetings, content creation, storage and more,” says Steve Taylor, founder of soCommercial, a marketplace for business space.

“The best part? You don’t need to own a building or have a massive footprint to take advantage of it,” he encourages. “With the right tools, anyone with a few clean, accessible square feet can create a new revenue stream – safely, quickly and on their own terms.”

Here are some ways Taylor suggests taking advantage of small spaces:

1. Café Back Room

This space could be rented as a coworking or event space. As many Americans continue to work remotely post-pandemic, coworking spaces are sought after as ways to change up their normal home office scenery.

2. Salon After-Hours

He poses the idea of revamping extra salon space as an area for booking private training sessions. This can generate revenue and expand business ventures.

3. Warehouse Corner

Extra warehouse space can be considered for inventory storage.

4. Yoga Room

This space might be reimagined as a Zoom or recording studio, perhaps for virtual yoga classes for more accessibility and business.

5. Retail Window

Taylor suggests repurposing your retail window into an art display or demo booth to catch the eyes of more customers and unlock more sales.
