Realtor.com named Erie the second hottest housing market nationwide for June 2026, falling just behind Hartford, Conn.
According to Realtor.com’s data, listings in Erie saw 3.3 times the national average number of viewers per property, and the typical home on the market sold in just 29 days. That’s roughly three weeks faster than the national norm.
Notably, out of the top 20 hottest housing markets listed, Erie also had the lowest median listing price at $239,000, highlighting its affordability compared to its list neighbors, like Hartford ($480,000) and Norwich-New London, Conn. ($476,000).
“Our Erie market is definitely strong right now,” shares Jenna Ramsey, president of the Greater Erie Board of Realtors®. “Erie has affordable housing, a low overall cost of living and access to Lake Erie, and it’s a solid family-friendly area with a lot of art and community events. If properties are priced and marketed well, they are selling quickly.”
“Our area is seeing more corporate relocation, second homes and folks who have a remote work option,” she adds. “Q2 MLS statistics show listings up 8% over 2025. We have an increase of 6.4% in homes sold, and our average sales prices are up by 4.5%. Erie is a beautiful place and definitely deserves a spot on this list.”
In addition to Erie, two other Pennsylvania housing markets made the list as well.
Lancaster ranked no. 13, with 2.4 times the national average number of viewers per property. Like Erie, listings in Lancaster also spent a median of 29 days on the market. The median listing price in June was $417,000.
And at no. 16, Reading saw a median listing price of $355,000. Listings on the market also attracted 2.2 times the national average number of viewers, and homes there spent even less time on the market – a median of only 26 days.
