Lean construction, a method focused on maximizing value and minimizing waste in construction projects, is seeing more interest in North America, according to a study by Touchplan®.
In North America, interest in lean construction is growing faster than the interest in Critical Path Method, with a 68.75% increase from 2021 to 2023. In comparison, interest in CPM grew only 20.69%.
Despite North America’s fast-growing interest in lean construction, it still remains low compared to other regions. South and Central America have the highest search interest index for lean construction (16.67 out of 100). In 2023, their construction volume was about $208.81 million.
The Middle East and Africa had the second-highest interest in lean construction with an index of 15.87. Their 2023 construction volume was $271.14 million.
In third, Europe’s average search interest index was 8.25, with a construction volume of $838.73 million last year.
North America ranked fourth, with a search interest of 8.00 and a construction volume of $1,454.17 million – the largest of the regions analyzed.
Lastly, the Asia-Pacific region’s average search interest in lean construction measured 6.80, with a construction volume of $703.24 million.
