Realtor.com® launches new home listings on mobile devices

Nearly 50 percent of home shoppers consider new construction when they start their home search, according to new data from realtor.com®.

Last week, realtor.com® announced it was making its search process easier with the addition of new home plans in its free applications for iOS and Android.

The majority of new home plans on the market are listed between $250,000 and $325,000, with a national median listing price of $291,981, according to April 2014 realtor.com® data. New home plans average two stories, 2,538 square feet, and typically include four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two-car garage.

“Highly sought after features, popularity among buyers, and limited new construction can make it difficult to find and close on a new home,” said Steve Berkowitz, Move’s chief executive officer, in a statement. “The addition of fresh and accurate new home listings on the realtor.com® mobile applications gives buyers the competitive edge to identify and buy their perfect new home.”

Android and iOS users now have access to nearly 60,000 new home plans from approximately 7,500 new home communities sourced from Builders Digital Experience, a joint venture between Move and Builder Homesite, Inc. When searching for listings, homebuyers can filter results by “new homes only,” or view new home plans, identified by a new home plan badge, alongside resale listings on main search results pages within the applications.

“Technology, paired with accurate data, drives informed home-buying decisions. Having the right tools, such as access to new home plans on the realtor.com® mobile applications, is crucial to finding the right home,” Berkowitz said. “Buyers who take their search a step further and educate themselves about what’s going on in their local market can hone in on their ideal home more quickly and negotiate with confidence.”
