Trying to expand and grow your Realtor® business but hitting some bumps in the road? Pacific Lifestyles Realty’s founder Josh Painter has some advice for you.
“Focus on differentiation,” he suggested. “What makes you different? The real estate industry is primed for disruption, and only those that bring the most value, those who are experts, will truly thrive,” he said.
Setting yourself apart to thrive in this business requires determination, said Painter.
“I could have given up at any time, but every day, I woke up focused and driven to succeed. I know that sounds like a canned answer, but it’s true,” he said. “Do you have what it takes to make it in this business? I think we all have it if we take control, if we act, if we focus on the dollar-productive activities like prospecting, calling and meeting,” added Painter.
Originally a loan originator, Painter watched from his desk as others succeeded in the real estate business. Finally in 2008, he took the leap, received his license and began his new career. Today, as a broker, he has a staff of more than 40 real estate agents.
“I’ve always believed that if even one person can do something, there’s no reason why that person can’t be me. Sometimes, success is just copying the habits of those that have come before us,” he said.
In the six years since Painter has become involved in real estate, he has personally sold more than 500 houses. In addition to differentiation and determination, he credits his education for his success.
“I’m constantly looking for ways to increase my knowledge. The more I know about the real estate industry and market, the more of an expert I can be to my clients,” he said.
