Bucks County Uses NAR Grant to Help Homeowners Impacted by Recent Flash Flooding

Six to 10 inches of rain fell in less than four hours in Bucks County, causing a “100-year flooding” of the Neshaminy Creek, which runs through Bensalem Township, Bristol borough and Bristol Township. The flooding emergency closed many roadways and required emergency evacuations of dozens of residents in several communities. More than 800 families suffered loss or damage to their homes due to this flooding and many of the homes in this area did not have flood insurance because they aren’t located in a flood zone.

“While the demographics and interest for homebuying remain solid, higher costs and material access issues have resulted in lower levels of home building and even put a hold on some new home sales,” said NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz. “While these supply-side limitations are holding back the market, our expectation is that production bottlenecks should ease over the coming months and the market should return to more normal conditions.”
