Financial problems? Get help now PA!
By Hank Lerner | July 15, 2009 | 1 min. read
Starting this week, Pennsylvanians with financial problems can access a program called “Get Help Now PA!” (the exclamation point is part of the program name, not my own embellishment). Think of it as an in-person “financial hotline” where ordinary PA citizens with money issues can sit down and speak to an attorney and/or financial professional about their problems and potential solutions. In-person help desks are open from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday evenings in about 20 counties across the state from July 7 through September 11.
This is a cooperative program sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers, the Mortgage Bankers Association of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Association of Mortgage Brokers, the Pennsylvania Financial Services Association, and several other non-profit or government groups. PAR is aware that some local associations have been hosting public sessions on financing and foreclosure topics over the past several months. What are your associations doing to help out during these times? Has it helped?
