As a Realtor®, you know firsthand how the COVID-19 pandemic has brought an overwhelming amount of anxiety, and homeowners are being impacted in different ways. There have been several mortgage relief programs implemented to help homeowners experiencing financial hardship. With the abundance of information being shared daily, Freddie Mac recognizes it can be challenging for homeowners to understand their options.
Freddie Mac wants homeowners to know that help starts here. They are offering their new #HelpStartsHere Interactive Guide for Homeowners, in both English and Spanish, that provides information and resources on:
- How mortgage servicers can help clients that have experienced job loss, reduced income, illness or other issues related to COVID-19 that impacts their ability to make their monthly mortgage payment.
- Understanding forbearance and if it’s the right option.
- Avoiding scams such as “foreclosure rescue fraud.”
In addition, Freddie Mac has created a new homeowner checklist, in both English and Spanish, to help homeowners ask the right questions.
