Private transfer fee legislation still priority

By Samantha Elliott Krepps | June 13, 2011 | 1 min. read

Banning private transfer fees remains a priority for PAR and the General Assembly. PAR supports two bills (SB 353 and HB 442), both of which would make private transfer fees illegal in the commonwealth. These bill are sponsored by Sen. Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny) and Rep. Sue Helm (R-Dauphin). Last month, House Majority Leader Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) told Realtors® during a speech at the PAR Board Meeting that he expects the state legislature will move on the elimination of private transfer fees (PTFs) before the budget passes. To date, 27 states have banned private transfer fees.
