At the National Association of Realtors’® (NAR) Annual Convention, NAR announced they would be providing ZipForm Plus to all of their members as a member benefit.
Some lauded this as a strategic move to address the rapid pace of change in the industry, while others thought the move didn’t make sense and overlapped too much with a benefit that had historically been the domain of local and state associations. But everyone wanted to know how things would work, what they would get and who would be picking up the tab.
Using PAR’s industry-leading standard forms in your transactions has two cost components to it: the cost of creating the content of the forms (task force meetings, staff time, travel, attorneys), and the price of the software that delivers them to you. In 2014, the cost of creating the forms was rolled into your PAR dues, leaving only the software cost to members.
While forms software can be purchased by individual Realtors®, brokerages and local associations have negotiated with the forms vendors to provide economies of scale and to provide a benefit to their Realtors. NAR will provide members with the forms software and ZipForm’s transaction management system, which includes unlimited document storage and management. What the NAR package does not include is the mobile version of the software, the DocuSign or Digital Ink.
For those associations offering this ZipForm Plus package to members, this will free up some of the association’s resources to focus on providing improved forms software offerings or new services in other areas.
The new package is expected to be available in the first quarter of this year.
