Scam alert: Email phishing attempt

By Kevin Juliano, CAE, RCE | Oct. 24, 2018 | 1 min. read

Pennsylvania Realtor® members and professional staff have reported receiving a suspicious email with the subject line “PENNSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS ANNOUNCEMENT” with information to download “an adobe file document” on a fake website. The email also included PAR’s logo, mailing address and similar phone number.

This is a phishing attempt – not an email from the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors®.

Please delete and disregard the email. PAR will never ask you for personal account credentials to view a statement or announcement. Do not download any attachment; it may contain a computer virus. Anyone who received the email should file a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.

The National Association of Realtors® offers advice you should consider to secure your personal and professional online accounts.

Members and consumers are advised to remain vigilant when entering account credentials on any website or when receive unsolicited communications requesting the credentials.
