RentalRoost uses lifestyle data to find dream homes

By Kelly Leighton | April 29, 2015 | 2 min. read

Real estate site RentalRoost, which recommends for-sale and rental properties based on a user’s lifestyle, is now providing free property reports.

These reports will include information on the property’s neighborhood, as well as the value of the home.

RentalRoost allows users to search for properties based on what qualities are most important to them. These include school quality, kid-friendliness, transit, dining, shopping, arts and culture and pet-friendliness. Users can also narrow down their selection based on bedrooms, baths and price. The site also provides demographics on neighborhoods, for example, a pie chart of marital status, household income, occupations, academic achievement and so on.

“We want to make sure users are able to get all the information they need in one place, our site,” said CEO Nitin Shingate. “The site will really benefit Realtors®. They can easily obtain information about the properties, and get information ahead of time. If their clients give them access to their profiles, they can use the profiles to learn more about their clients,” he added.

Users can also investigate whether renting or buying a property is better for their area, by using the site to compare mortgages and average rent prices.

The site also has a tool called Facebook IQ. Users give the site permission to access their Facebook profiles, and the site “captures Facebook activities and gets a lot of information about a person, whether they are single, married, have kids, their age group, and so on,” said Shingate.

From there, the site matches users up with properties that best match their lifestyle, he added. The tool provides a score to show how compatible a property would be with the user’s lifestyle.

The accurate home valuation tool helps users decide whether renting or buying is a better option for their current situation. RentalRoost Real Estate Pros are also available to help users understand the pros and cons of each option.
