Regional Public Policy Training highlights PAR’s legislative advocacy

By Kim Shindle | Feb. 23, 2018 | 2 min. read

The first Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® Public Policy Regional Training was held yesterday in Harrisburg. The training is designed to provide information about how PAR’s legislative programs work and how your participation in this process can positively impact the industry.

“Legislative advocacy is at the heart of our Realtor® organizations,” said PAR President Todd Umbenhauer. “Whether it’s fighting a local point-of-sale inspection, stopping state taxes on real estate services or urging support of the national flood insurance program, your Realtor® associations are working for you.”

“The Public Policy Regional Training reminds us that not only do we have a voice in the legislative process, but how to most effectively use it,” he added. “And this training brings PAR’s advocacy education close to our where our members live so they can be part of our legislative efforts.”

“So much of what local, state and national elected officials do can affect how you do business and the clients you work for. PAR is advocating on behalf of members and homeowners, working with state legislative and regulatory bodies to create positive change that supports the work of Realtors®,” Umbenhauer said.

Additional trainings will be held:

  • Thursday, March 1 – Toftrees, State College
  • Thursday, March 8 – Crowne Plaza Valley Forge, King of Prussia
  • Thursday, March 15 – Mohegan Sun Pocono, Wilkes-Barre

  • Wednesday, April 18 – University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg
