Realtors® Relief Foundation aids in hurricane recovery

Realtors® Relief FoundationLike so many of you, I’ve been watching the historic flooding that many of our colleagues are experiencing as a result of Hurricane Harvey on television. We know from flooding disasters in Pennsylvania and neighboring states New York and New Jersey, that the recovery will be costly.

PAR’s Finance Committee met this week and voted to donate $10,000 to the Realtors® Relief Foundation to aid in recovery efforts. The foundation is currently coordinating efforts for relief in the gulf coast and in the greater Houston area.

NAR first launched the Realtors® Relief Foundation as the Realtors® Relief Fund in 2001, within hours of the devastating Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks—raising more than $8.4 million to provide assistance so that surviving family members could stay in their homes. Since then, more than $25 million has been raised for victims of disasters, including wildfires, tornadoes, floods and hurricanes.

You may have noticed that many of your fellow Pennsylvania Realtors® have already given to this worthy cause and they’ve shared their commitment with special artwork on social media. I would urge all members to consider donating to lend a hand in these recovery efforts. You can donate online at NAR.Realtor or by mailing your check to: Realtors® Relief Foundation, 430 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611.
