Realtors® and social media use
Facebook is the top social media channel choice for Realtors®.
According to the 2019 Realtor® Social and Digital Media Report from Realtors Property Resource®, more than 90% of Realtors® use Facebook for business and find it an effective channel. Instagram topped LinkedIn for the second choice, coming in at 49% and 44% respectively. What channels aren’t they using? Reddit and Snapchat, they said. Realtors® are mainly posting listings on their social media channels, but local events and buying tips are also popular posts, they reported.
Close to two-thirds of respondents said they plan to use social and digital media more this year, with 62% budgeting more finances for it. More than half of Realtors® surveyed (57%) reported they spend about 1-4 hours each week on social media presence, and 58% spend about 1-4 hours each week on their digital marketing efforts.
“Social and digital media should play a huge role in any agent’s marketing efforts,” says Reggie Nicolay, RPR vice president of marketing. “Raising awareness of yourself and your services via channels such as Facebook, Instagram and email are the new normal in real estate marketing. It really comes down to fishing where the fish are, and the sea is full of social media users.”
The top outcome of social media usage is awareness, said nearly 80%, followed by buyer leads at 42% and referrals, said 39%.
Email is the top digital marketing tool, said more than 78% of respondents, followed by texting at nearly 36% and videos at 34%. Awareness, buyer leads and referrals are again the top three outcomes from this type of media for Realtors®.
