Military Appreciation Month: Thank you to all PAR members who have served

May is Military Appreciation Month, and tomorrow, May 18, is Armed Forces Day, so PAR is honoring a few of our members who have served. We appreciate all you have done.

Michael Hale, a Realtor® in Skippack, served with the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment mechanic from 1987 to 1991 during Operation Desert Storm.

Robert Hoobler, a Realtor® in Mechanicsburg, was in the Army from 1988 to 1992, stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he was a construction surveyor. Hobbler earned the Parachutist Badge three times, and went on multiple deployments, including Germany, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

A Realtor® in Lewisburg, Tim Brouse served in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1991, including in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His role included material control, accounting and supply logistics.

He is now a Realtor® in State College, but Marc McMaster served in the Army from 1996 to 2002 as a Blackhawk Helicopter Crewchief. Stationed in Kentucky, New York and South Korea, McMaster was deployed to Central America for Hurricane Mitch Disaster Relief in 1998 as well.

John Derr served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Johnstown. “I chose this picture because its important for me to describe how in the USMC, it’s not about me. It’s about us. Without these men, I don’t know where I would be,” said Derr. Today, Derr is a Realtor® in Danville.

Lucille Madalion served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977, completing her military training in the field pf telecommunications in Georgia. She then went to Germany to work in a communication center. “I enjoyed my time, both in the service and my experience of being in Germany and learning about the German culture,” said Madalion, a Realtor® in Newtown Square today.

Bob Bustamante graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1975 and served on active duty for 20 years in the U.S. Navy. During his service, he traveled around most of the continents and through all of the oceans of the world. Today, he is a Realtor® in Greensburg.

Robert “Wags” Wagner served in the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1996. During his tenure, he spent time in Panama and Vietnam, before returning to the U.S. and becoming an officer course instructor until he was honorably discharged. Today, Wags is a Realtor® in the Laurel Highlands area.

A Pittsburgh Realtor®, Dave Bryant served in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1996. During his 23 years of service, he was awarded two Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy Achievement Medals, six Navy Good Conduct Medals, two Armed Forces Reserve Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, as well as several other awards, ribbons, Letters of Commendation and Appreciation, in addition to being named Sailor of the Year at many of his duty stations.

Ronald Bills Sr., a Realtor® in Warren, served in the U.S. Army.

Quentin McQuaid, a Realtor® in Allison Park, served in the U.S. Army from 1966 through 1969. He served in the 24th Combat Aviation infantry in Germany and Kansas and then did a yearlong tour in Vietnam.

Wyomissing Realtor® Michelle Hettinger-Miller served in the U.S. Navy from 1973-1976 as a legal yeoman in VT 2 squadron.
