Four cities in Pennsylvania were rated amongst 300 others to find the most attractive to first-time homebuyers.

With first-time homebuyers looking for housing on the market, WalletHub analyzed 300 cities across the country to determine their appeal to these homebuyers. Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Erie and Allentown were included on the list to be rated.

Pittsburgh was the first city listed for Pennsylvania, landing in 36th place overall. When the list was broken down even further, between large, medium-sized, and small, Pittsburgh landed in eighth place out of 62 large cities. A large city was categorized as having a population of more than 300,000.

Erie nabbed 124th place overall, and 57th out of 144 small cities. Small cities were categorized as having less than 150,000 residents.

Philadelphia came in around the middle of the pack for first-time homebuyers, landing in 138th overall, and being named the 31st place out of 62 large cities.

Allentown came in 158th place overall, and 71st out of 144 small cities.

The study used 18 metrics to place each city. Each metric was divided under housing affordability, real estate market and the living environment, each carrying equal weight. These rankings included factors such as crime rate, schools districts and the availability of  jobs, just to name a few.

The top five cities were Overland Park, KS; Allen, TX; Centennial, CO; Broken Arrow, OK; and Frisco, TX.
