Understanding Implicit Bias

About this Event

Realtors® Association of York and Adams Counties DEI Committee is hosting an Understanding Implicit Bias Zoom presentation.

Implicit bias is a form of bias that occurs automatically and unintentionally, that affects judgments, decisions, and behaviors. Research shows implicit bias can pose a barrier to recruiting, retaining a diverse workforce, and can affect the ability to obtain fair housing. Also known as unconscious bias, it’s important to explore and identify our own implicit biases in an effort to overcome them. By seeking opportunities to engage in discussions in safe environments, spending time with people outside our usual social groups and communities different than our own, and by considering experiences from the point of view of the person being stereotyped, we can reflect on our gut feelings and negative reactions to people from different social groups.

There will be time for open discussion and Q&A after the presentation.
