Are You Registered to Vote?

By Christopher Beadling | April 29, 2022 | 2 min. read

Public service and politics are in my blood. So it should come as no surprise that some of my favorite days of the year are election days.

Fortunately, we have one of those rapidly approaching. Pennsylvania’s primary election is on Tuesday, May 17. And the deadline to register to vote in that election is this Monday, May 2.

Registered Democrats and registered Republicans will be heading to the polls to select candidates for their parties to run in the general election, from U.S. Senator and governor, all the way down to Congress and state House and Senate.

With Pennsylvania’s closed primary system, Republicans will only be choosing between Republican candidates, with Democrats choosing their own party candidates. Independent voters and those registered with another political party can still head to the polls, but unfortunately your choices are more limited due to our system.

But the key to heading to the polls on May 17 is that you must be registered to vote.

Registering to vote is so easy. I know you’re busy, we all are in this market. But you can take care of this in a matter of minutes and make your Realtor® voice heard in all upcoming elections. You have three opportunities. You can register online, you can submit your application to your county voter registration office or you can mail your application to the county registration office by May 2.

If you aren’t sure if you are registered or not, you can visit PA Voter Services. If you need to update your registration, whether you have moved or wish to change political parties, it’s easy to do online.

Join me and millions of other Pennsylvanians casting our votes and making our voices heard.
